The HS TPS Report

Hello and welcome to the Hatcham Social weekly TPS Report

Weekly. Cool shit. From us. To you. Argue, agree, hate, love, share, block, destroy, follow.

Have been reading a little of Verlaine and wanted to share one with you, you may not know this:

The Innocents ‘Paul Verlaine’

(FĂȘtes Galants: Les IngĂ©nus)

High heels fought with their long dresses,
So that, a question of slopes and breezes,
Ankles sometimes glimmered to please us,
Ah, intercepted! – Dear foolishnesses!

Sometimes a jealous insect’s sting
Troubled necks of beauties under the branches,
White napes revealed in sudden flashes
A feast for our young eyes’ wild gazing.

Evening fell, ambiguous autumn evening:
The beauties, dreamers who leaned on our arms,
Whispered soft words, so deceptive, such charms,
That our souls were left quivering and singing.

You love him too, right?

Look Sessions

A few months back we went to SXSW festival in Austin Texas (yes it was amazing in the Motel and the Frat Parties), while we were there we played an acoustic session for an Look Sessions (looksessions.com), here is us playing an acoustic version of Like An Animal for them:

For those of you who entered our competition for tickets for our autumn tour, playing with Tim Burgess, you will have received notification today if you won. Congratulations! Going to be fucking great  tour.

Truth and Validity

What makes a lyric valid? What makes a song meaningful? To live your life so as to experience something less ordinary or to give us the space to understand the road less trodden and muddied? To live your life on the edge of knowing what you are doing. Letting the gods roll you around in fates gardens. Do these pills sharpen our pencils and sight? We dive into ourselves and those we know in a quest for something deeper than the surface rubble. In a need for more than the usual cheap tricks and alliterations. For some truth that sets the soul alight that burns the crystals of hope and deep sensitivity. Is it just a case of something to catch the eye, but then why bother? Stick by me we can mine the deepest mines, we can find the real precious metals down there, we leave the fools gold for the shiny happy people.

Day three Austin...

So we are in Austin for SXSW, day three, in a Motel on the Highway and about to head into town for a BBQ. If you have ever stayed in a Motel in Texas you will know how cool it is, like a road movie life moment. We have a pool but its not really hot enough to use in the morning and we are out all day mostly. Finn and David are asleep, sleeping off a day of light beer, free cocktails and beer cans the size of a small mans head. Yesterday we managed to get down to the Lexington showcase and catch a bit of Ringo Deathstar, miss the Jesus and Mary Chain show (now there was a queue!very very disappointed), miss the Cold Specks show we hoped to see (kind of clashed with an interview we were doing) and walk around a lot. (yes we will do better today!) We also spent a large amount of time on buses. One of the best things we did was a show at a cool little cycle shop up the other end of town called Waterloo Cycles. Swell guy, Michael, who owns Waterloo Cycles has a large collection of REM T-shirts. Riley has taken about a million photos and we will post some of the best soon. On day 1 we met the legend that is Nardwuar (www.nardwuar.com) and we are going to try and catch his show with Andrew WK. The best thing about Austin is the green and space, wooden houses and friendly locals, the worst is the only food seems to be drive in fast food and getting around can take a LONG time. Its Finns birthday today so I guess this is a pretty cool place to find a cake... Toby
